Hi i just bought a Hauppauge HD PVR and it has the option to use 5.1 surround sound via an optic cable. However, my samsung surround sound only has 1 optical slot but i want to use my xbox and hauppauge so my hauppauge will record the 5.1 from my xbox do i need a optical splitter or?

When i hooked my Vizio HD TV to my PC to use as Monitor, it cant recognize that im using it. It still thinks im using my computer monitor so i cant change the resolution of the screen. Help?
