my cousin says her A/C light is flashing and the A/C is inoperable. is there a way to manually or force retrieve a body DTC as i don't think i can pull a code using the code reader. any help would be appreciated.
most likely the stock alternator will suffice for 1200 watts. it's the amp draw is what you need to know. as long as you have a pretty good battery that is rated higher than stock and passes a load test, and are running a capacitor you should be fine w/your stock alternator.

yes a blown fuse is probably the problem. on some cars there is a fail-safe that if there is any problems with the HVAC system it will go into a fail safe-mode and automatically go into defroster mode switching on the a/c. this is so the driver can see if the front windshield if fogged over...
