    I have an old car that is hard to start?

    If that happens again, push the pedal all the way to the floor and leave it there WHILE you crank, until is starts. Thats how you clear it from "flooding". Anyway, being a 1977 and sitting there for a while, there could be a conglomerate of issues that may cause it to not start.
