    Why is it that ethical breeders are expected to breed to "improve the breed"?

    Why not just follow the working and written breed standard? I've seen some awful bad "breed improvement" over the years. Some of it has been pretty detrimental to the breeds.

    If you have a good eye and a sense of style, grooming is quite easy to learn. You need to realize that is it a physically demanding job that requires heavy lifting, repetitive motions and the like. There is also a risk for injury from bites and scratches. Good groomers are also good business...

    On nice dogs only I would and only for brushing and bathing. No scissoring or clipping without an adult around.

    Yes many people groom their own dogs and they do just as good a job as many professional groomers. My recommendations Clip a clean mat free coat. Use a long blade. Don't skin the dog. I would use a #7 or #5 oster blade. Go with the grain of the hair. Be patient as there is a learning curve...
