Well that question can't be answered as of now since the iPhone 5 is not out yet & nothing about it is official & wouldn't be until September for the earliest. The only thing that is a given is that it will have the Apple A5 processor in it & iOS 5 on it.

The closest shot you have is the Verizon iPhone 4 & even then it is a closed door since that only works on Verizon as of now. None of the other iPhones can work because they are all GSM.

You can still use an unlocked phone as normal. The only difference between an unlocked one and a locked one is that the unlocked one can use any GSM carrier vs the locked one which can only use one.

I don't think so. The 3GS is AT&T only & requires in store activation on purchase.
