    is there a program/technique for extracting frames from a downloaded video to...

    ...make a gif? so i know how to download videos and take "screen shots" of the frames i want and then upload them into GIMP, but i was wondering if there is a program/technique that will allow me to get the frames one by one to make my gif more smooth? i use a macbookpro, if that helps.
