T-Mobile got it because they don't have a problem with unlocked devices on their network. They also offer plans with no contract and a la carte data. To launch it on AT&T bands unlocked would piss off AT&T which Nokia wants to have a good relationship with in order to try to succeed in the US...

I'd take a picture of my "collection" but all I have is an E90, a now broken E51, and a Nokia 9300, and only one of those has a camera.

If it had AT&T 3G I would pick one up in a second.
