you must have added them, withdout adding they can't chat with you. may be in orkut while doing some setting you must have allowed ur orkut contacts to chat with you in gmail... check those settings...

while rebooting go to ur bios setting by pressing delete or f11 in some cases.. in bios u may change the preference order of boot devices. so make ur hard drive as ur default boot device..
