    smart phone wireless - does it work without the SIM?

    I have a smartphone (Nokia 5800) and want to use it outside of the UK (mostly in Paris) occasionally but only for web browsing when I'm connected to the internet via wireless. Can I do this with a UK only SIM installed, ie: I don't want to have to pay roaming charges.

    Nokia 5800 GPS - does it work without the SIM?

    I have a Nokia 5800 and want to use the GPS enabled sportracker app when I am outside of the UK. I don't want to pay european roaming charges - so does it work without the SIM?
