So i turned on my N8 today and noticed that it will never go into the stand by mode, it just dims the screen and shows the background instead of changing to the back screen with just the clock even if i slide the keylock Any ideas? thanks in advance

Yep. I'm darned attracted to this phone too, but the deal-breaker for me is the dimness of the screen. It's evident in the pictures and videos. A review I read today, which was generally very positive, described the screen as "none too bright." I'll wait for the N96.
