Justwanting to know what parts i need to buy to flash it to play my back up games, do I need the CK3 Pro kits? Or can i just use the Connectivity Kit V3 Probe?

I just bought a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT from a older guy who took good care of it, but he told me once every other month the security light will come on while he is starting it and then it will only crank over but not start and then he will have to let it sit for any where from 10-30 mins...
