sounds like a bad plug wire. if you recently had them changed make sure you didn't use the cheap line of spark plug wires. either that or your catalytic converter is clogged. you should have a check engine light on. if the light is not on the bulb is most likely blown. have the car scanned and...

do yourself a favor and only let trained mechanics fix your car. Stop splicing wires. It's probably the ac switch.

i have no idea what could be wrong with it by your description. the worst that will happen is it will break down. You wont hurt anything that isn't already broken by driving it to the shop.

its most likely not serious. The sound is probably coming from the motor area, right? if it is, the sound could be one of the v-belts (the belts you can see). Also, i'd like to know when the last time you had the timing belt and water pump changed. the sound could be coming from the timing...
