I have a DVD/VCR combination (Panasonic), its at least 3 or 4 years old. My DVD won't read discs now so can't play or record on it. What is the best thing to do, can you have these repaired or is it better to get a new one. How long do these video/DVD last?

I have the code U88 on my Panasonic DMR-EZ45VEBS, I cannot eject a DVD, it keeps going back to standby, then hello and bye. It won't let me eject the disc. It keeps coming up with a mesaage disc faulty when watching TV. Please advise what to do
