does the body temperature go up during a hot flash?

No. It is only a perceived increase in temperature. The body often responds to this perception by increasing blood flow to the skin, resulting in a flushed appearence and a local increase in the SKIN temperature, but the core body temperature does not change.

The parents of offspring exhibiting a 3:1 phenotypic ratio are?

The answer is C: Heterozygous for one trait. (A) would give all one phenotype. (B) is a dihybrid cross, which gives a phenotypic ratio of 9:3:3:1. (D) would give a phenotypic ratio of 1:1.

Is it a technological problem, which may one day be solved, or a physical impossibility?

The New Horizons spacecraft is en route to Pluto right now, and will make its closest approach on July 14, 2015. Earth-based (or earth orbiting) resolution is limited by the wavelength of light and the aperture of the telescope, an effect known as the Dawes' Limit. This effect can be overcome...

Can you kill bacteria that got into your blood by drinking alcohol?

Not without killing yourself by acute alcohol poisoning first. Most bacteria can handle MUCH higher alcohol concentrations than you can.

Having a debate Friday on 2012, I need a little help?

#6 isn't exactly correct. When the polar shift happens, it must go through zero, so during that time we would have little or no protection from charged particles coming from space. This would likely wreak havoc on electrical power grids around the world. However, there is no evidence that such...

    Mercury in retrograde?

This is the ASTRONOMY section, not ASTROLOGY. Big difference. One is a ligitimate branch of science, requiring objective evidence before putting forth an idea, and always seeking to refine our understanding of how the universe works. The other is pseudoscientific babble that has no supporting...

How do scientists calculate light years?

When you get to distances that large, we determine the distance indirectly by measureing the redshift of the incoming light. Since the universe is expanding, everything is moving away from us (at great distances... at nearer distances, gravity is strong enough to overcome this expansion). The...
