I was told 4:88 gears would solve any power loss. How hard is the gear swap and is this the best thing to do without having to buy 4.0?

...2.5 with 172,000.? it seems to run good. Im wanting to put a 2"-3" lift w/ 31-33's. what would be the best to not lose power from the 2.5? also whats the best add ons to beef up engine? Intake? throttle body space? performance chip? thanks alot
