I have an O2 SIM card that is on a Contract with O2 i have got a new phone from the Vodafone shop when i put the O2 SIM card in there it says "INVALID SIM" how can i solve this

Hi! This is my first question hehe... I was wondering if its possible to chat(text) with a person from mobile and also voice chat with him/her or another person at the same time... like the software fring allows us to voice chat and also text chat right? but can both be done at the same time...
