Updated SIMs are free. However, I had to call customer service to activate the SIM since the store wouldn't do it (I wasn't the main account holder). They shouldn't give you any hassle.

Very odd. Don't know if this will matter...I did the update through wifi with NO sim card. I thought it was odd that it would let me update with no SIM installed, as an update through NSU always requires one.
