Oddly the V9x I got for my wife at the same time that I got my 6650 had an adapter in the box that I can use.

They make a non camera version of the 9630 BlackBerry Tour and the 9650 Bold, which would be a huge step up from the 8830, like light years ahead. Non camera phones are very limited, so that may be something to consider. If she were to sign a new contract, it would only be 150 or so.

You're also failing to factor in all of the missing features the N97 does not have for those prices.
