They are gummy because they sat too long. Just re-coat.
The red is the blood, but thats normal. This is what I would do- I'd take a bowl and put like a cup of flour in it and set the wings in there. Then they will be ready to fry, or fry now and eat tomorrow.
A car door has hinges and moving parts, the hinges hold up to 90 pounds of dead metal weight. Your slamming the damned door increases that, plus force. So, kid...weight plus force plus moving parts and gravity makes things break and wear faster. Is that simple enough?
