I own a 2008 Cadillac Escalade and when I start it up it make a really bad noise- it sounds like a diesel and it's getting worse, any idea what this is?

Im 3 weeks and im supposed to go camping this weekend for a birthday party, is this harmful for the baby ( the campfire or anything like that ), also is their anything I should pack that I wouldn't normally take?
