If I remove the back seat, can I tell? The main pump stopped working,couldn't get the engine to turn over-- so I first replaced the fuel filter and now I getting too much gas. The smell of gas is everywhere! What do you suggest?

Need to replace fuel pump and/or filter could not get the car started--and discovered the fuel pump not working-we then replaced the fuel filter and now I'm getting too much gas and running very rich. what should I do? should I still replace the fuel pump for a new one? because now I have a gas...
