I just purchased a magic mouse from apple, and when I got to search for the device, it say searching and it never comes up as found. The Discoverable box is grayed out and I can't check it off. Is there anyway I can make my mac (10.6.3) discoverable?

I can import video's from my camera to my mac via imovie, but it cuts down the quality a ton from when it's on the camera...is there a way to import it another way? i.e. fiewire I have a Macbook (not newest, the non-plastic unibody one) and a sony handycam DCR-SX40
