    Why are thicker wheels good for muddy terrain?

    Wider tires distribute the weight over a larger contact area. The wider the tire, the less it will sink into the mud (or sand,snow etc).

    You said, "...or the sound that the gears make when they change but it's permenant..". This sounds like the rear derailleur is out of adjustment. If you didn't have a crash or bank the derailleur into something, it'll be a quick fix. Take it to the placed purchased or to the nearest bike shop...

    Not dangerous. How do you know it's the shifter (switch)? The cable could be broken or it could be loose. Have a shop look at it. They shouldn't charge anything just to determine what's wrong. If it is the cable, it'll be a relatively quick and inexpensive fix.

    What type of bicycle is this? Is it a hybrid, road or mountain bike? Brand? Age? OK, the "clicky" on the right shifts the rear gears. The largest cog on the rear is the lowest gear (easiest to pedal). The smallest cog is the highest gear (hardest to pedal). I am not familiar with the type of...

    I have to agree with Ollie. Bikes are just inanimate objects. Therefore, they have no sexuality. However, people who think objects are gay, are probably gay.
