It's mostly the overtime depleting the city funding that bothers me. It's an obvious abuse of their union lobbying and entrenchment. The work details in Boston are a shining example of the bullshit that is Police OT.

That's not nearly ideological enough of an idea to pass in today's political climate. Obviously the solution is to further cut taxes on the job creators so they can create more jobs with their additional capital for investments and such.
