    Can i simply connect 2 laptops with an ethernet cable and copy data?

    I got a new laptop and my old one has over 1000 songs I want to transfer to my new one. Can I just plug the computers into each other and copy stuff or is it more complicated than that? I was gonna copy them onto a cd but there are way too many songs to fit. I am a novice computer user.
