I am looking at used cars (Ford focus) at a dealer. The dealer claims that a car is 2006 model. But according to carfax, it was manufactured in Jan 2005 and first purchased at Aug.2005. So I'm wondering if the dealer is trying to rip me off or is it possible for a 2006 model car to be produced...

...Malibu (both between 2002-2005)? And is there another car that would be cheaper to maintain than these?
