To elaborate, in order for them to know that it's wrong to disobey god they need the capacity to recognize right and wrong. Maybe the Abrahamic is just stupid?
I think it's good to establish moral boundaries at an early age, lest they grow up and become poisoned by secular teachings and start thinking it's wrong to kill the nonbelievers.
