Maybe bonds, some I or EE bonds... and they'll gain interest too, not much though since rates are so low now. Or you can deposit it into a credit union... why do you want to do it anyway.

Your best bet is to call the financial institution that has the loan and ask what your options are. They may be able to defer payments or something to help you out.
