I just got my samsung moment how long does it need to be plugged in for me to be able to unplug it and bring it around with me?

i have a one week old who when hes breastfeeding, arches his back and stretches his neck up when hes frusterated and cant latch on. he also does this when he first wakes up like hes stretching or something. is this normal?
