Just curious as to why gypsies wear bells on their waists, ankles...etc. What is the history behind it? Thanks :)

I'm going to a concert this week at the PNC bank arts center and the temp for that day is about 82 degrees-I want to wear shorts but I don't know how bad the mosquitoes are going to be. Will I be eaten alive(by bugs)? Thank you<3
