If you have one phone, & its broke or whatever the case may be, & you don't want pay the hellacious repair bill, but have a perfectly good phone, can you just reactivate that one & not worry about paying? Does it cost to de-activate the other? Stupid question: How do i get my SIM card out?

What i mean is; before when you would go to activate a new phone, or switch phones, you had to pay 36 dollars, as an activation fee. as of august 2010, is it free or 36.00?
