I am really into the online multiplayer of ps3's games.Should I buy a bluetooth headset or is the regular controller text chat easy to use, while in gameplay?

I'm getting a ps3 slim pretty soon, and my tv in my room is a 13" standard tv. I do not have the money to buy one of those flashy lcd/hd tvs. So, is it worth wasting money on a new tv or will ps3 graphics still looks good on a 13" standard tv. And, do you think I could find a 14" or 13" lcd tv...
