I would doubt the iPhone will be going to Verizon, but without knowing the specs for it it's hard to make a comparison. Do you not get any AT&T coverage where you're at, or just have a great discount through Verizon?

Unlocking won't fix any of that, you'd need to debrand, which isn't possible without stock firmware.

Gingerbread is right around the corner, so if Nokia did release Froyo on the N8 like you suggested it would be like a year (minimum) before they would get to porting Gingerbread onto it. (also while you are at it ask a N97 user about how cool is the V3 firmware on the N97 which was released...

True, but that's because of an agreement between the creator and whatever other (person or company) that was made. When something is created, the creator owns it by default.
