It could be the master cylinder but It sounds like to me that your clutch is not disengaging. When you are holding it down for a long amount of time it could be causing it to get stuck into gear.

You could try a few things. 1.Make sure the wheels are tightened all of the way down. 2.Get a four wheel alighnment.
