For a 1948 Ford F1 that is going to make around 500hp, what rear end is ideal?
All you ever hear about is the "invincible" Ford 9" rear and the 8.8", but those were in a lot of light duty vehicles... Why doesn't anyone ever seem to suggest the rear end from a F250 or F350?
I am making a custom hot rod and got nice seats from a modern BMW. However, the BMW seats are controlled by a complicated computer system with data cables. Can I cut the computers off and just hook the motors up to simple 12 volt and ground wires with simple toggle switches to control them...
Obviously the tire material / tread / etc matters a lot, but in general, is a 275mm wide tire enough get get traction? They will be street tires on an entirely street-driven car. I do not want to relocate the leaf springs if I do not have to; 275's are the widest I can fit in the stock wheel...

60's and 70's Ford and Mopars have the same wheel bolt pattern (5 on 4.5"), but is the center axle hub the same size? The axle hubs on my '73 Challenger are 2.032 inches; is Ford the same?
Basically, can I swap wheels back and forth between Ford and Mopar without the need for hub rings or...
Only after 15+ miles of freeway driving and only when turning, I hear a groaning / whining noise from the rear end of my car. I can only hear it when I make slow speed turns, like in a parking lot.
The car is RWD, auto, with a posi rear end.
Does this sound like the posi unit is toast? Is...
I bought some decent quality paint and primer for a 2-stage paint job that I keep putting off. How long can I store it in the can before it goes bad? It has never been opened since I bought it.
Also, once I do want to use it, will I need to take it to the hardware store and have them put it...

How many vee belt grooves does my crank pulley need? I need to run a/c, power steering, alternator and water pump. I have not set one of these up in a while but I think this only takes three belts. If so, which two are linked? Thanks.
The wires that go from the top of the hood and loop around underneath. Doesn't the vibration from driving cause them to wear a hole in your paint? Or no?
'73 Dodge Challenger for street use only and some freeway time. 8 3/4" rear end; 727 auto transmission. It will never see a drag strip, just terrorizing the local streets on a daily basis. I wanted a 3.55:1 posi, but I am offered a 3.23:1 for a great price.
Will I regret using the 3.23...
or do I need to buy new locks? It would save me a lot of hassle if a locksmith could make new keys without me buying new ignition cylinder and locks. Can this be done? Any idea what it usually costs? I need keys for ignition, doors, and trunk.
I'm looking to spend around $1K for some suspension upgrades. The car is getting a big block and will need the help. It will be a daily driver, so I want it to ride with some level of comfort. I don't need to get my spine pounded by every pothole, but I still want it to handle decently.
Ideas?
I have a '73 Challenger that I am going to attempt to paint myself. Yes, I know of the difficulty involved. I want to paint it Plum Crazy Purple (original Dodge color). I am currently finishing up the body work. I am spraying it with a light coat of rattlecan sandable primer to keep the rust...
