I don't like the backflip. I think it's a lousy design, it's slow, and more subject to malfunction. Blackberries in general are well made, and there's a lot more you can do to maintain them. That is, it's more often possible to fix them yourself. Both phones require a data plan.

Have you or sprint tried putting another battery in it? If not, don't run out and buy a battery. Ask some nice sales rep to throw a battery in there just to see if it'll charge. Then buy a battery if that works.
