Can the pistons be taken off the rods and put back on without taking them to a machine shop? I need to change the pistons and am trying to do it myself. The reason for changing pistons is due to the motor is out of a lx escort and has dish top pistons and I need the gt dome top pistons.

i'm am looking for high compression pistons,bigger cam etc..... any help would be appreciated
