It was about this boy with an ill and he was unable to move and was always on a bed, then towards the end he was able to movie his finger just a bit. I remember it being an old movie (70s/80s) and I watched it as a kid.

I know it was about this girl and her family and they in like Africa filming. The girls name started with an 'e' i think and she wore glasses. Her little brother was weird, and her dad had like a british/australian accent. lol thanks everyone
