First off its not a problem with FORD this can happen to any make/mod. It should not have damaged the motor, a mechanic should be able to drain it and get it fired fairly cheap and easy.

You could get a Xcal3 from SCT tuners and remove the factory limiter. Ant at the same time gain some power and gas mileage. It also doubles as a code reader. I have this done to my SVT contour and get it upto 150, with a Valentine 1 radar watching my back.
