How do I change the settings on my phone? Cause right now if I dont answer a text message it'll remind me every two minutes :/

I have a Samsung Reality & i text in class and when i get a text, my touch screen unlocks. How do i change it? It might get me caught one day if it unlocks and calls somebody or something.
