So php and dreamweaver or ASP.NET? whatever your answer plz tell me what part of the language is more important...

I know there are several ways and a lot of things to know and I'm just confused can anyone explain it completely or give a link to a tutorial?

I'm learning SQL server and then I'm trying to learn ADO.net and ASP.net is this the write thing to do? should I learn HTML and XML? how well? do I need anything else in order to be a good software and website designer?
