In the training exercises in Wii Sports, does getting a gold medal amount to anything? Will I get any extras by getting gold medals?

In My Aquarium for wiiware, I can choose between three types of food to feed my fish, but I am not sure which types of food each fish likes. Is there some sort of a guide in the game or on the internet?
