Once the phone is first turned on will it require me to create an account or something that requires the phone service to be active?

I bought the palm pixi plus and now its asking to create a palm profile, unfortunately it needs to have service for it to work, i do not intent to activate this phone so is there a way to get past it without creating a palm profile?
