Charging batteries from a power plant and running a car off of that energy is much cheaper than powering cars via internal combustion engines which are less efficient (and their fuel is more expensive) than a coal power plant or a nuclear plant. That is where $X will be saved.

And you need to also keep in mind that those shows you listed aren?t real cartoons,they are ANIMATED SITCOMS,hence on "animated" Writing carries these shows,not visual gags. It would be the same even if it had live action cast.
