    1994 Ford thunderbird acceleration?

    I have a friend who owns a 1994 Ford Thunderbird, not sure what size motor, it is an automatic, He says it will start but will not accelerate over 10 or 15 MPH. I think its Transmission not shifting, or MAF. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you for your time.
