have a k3500 7.4 has 4;10 gears is 4;56 gears better at times but cruz will it give better mpg ?

i just got a 98 silverado k3500 with a 454 , long bed it has a 410 gears .is it better to run 456 gears in it for every day driveing ( FREEWAY, TOWN) DUMP RUNS HERE and there ? it feels like i am flatting out when i do step on it
