i have a 97 pontiac grand am and it has has factory radio and i was reading the owners manual and it says that if the battery gets disconnected that i would have to unlock the radio with a code or it will not work b/c thinks its been stolen how can i get that code and is it a common code for...

if i take out the Cadillac converter and block it off or cut it off will the can still run right ...b/c all it does is filter the air that goes in to the air ....so a can really does not need it right ? i live in florida so we dont have inspections but if i was to move back up north i cant...
