Are the latest generation of Honda Civics (2006 and later in this case) as durable and dependable as Civics from years past granted, of course, regular maintenance and a lot of tlc is involved?

Just acquired an 06 Honda Civic dx w/ the 1.8 VTEC engine. Having a hard time trying to find info on the timing belt maintenance sched. on that engine. That IS a belt on the 1.8 VETC, isn't it? I can't imagine a chain on that one. Anyway, if it IS a belt, how often should it be replaced. THANKS!
