Couldnt you buy a non-pda type of phone, change your service to get rid of data, then put that sim card in the iPhone? I use the sim out of my iPhone in a throw away flip phone from time to time.

Very true. I have an AT&T account and have been using unlocked phones for the past few years. Despite my E71-2 and upcoming white N97 being unlocked, it would be unfortunate to have to go through any Ovi Store inconvenience due to the fault of AT&T.
