I am looking into buying a road bike and have discovered that it would make more sense to buy a used bike because of my budget ($500-600). However, I don't know what to look for. Any suggestions of brands or specific models of used road bikes?

What's the best/ highest quality road bike I can get? My budget is $500 but i guess I could go a little higher.
